ABOUT ANDREWS CAR CENTRE
John H B Andrews (my Grandfather) set up the business in1929, running the business from a small showroom at number 7 Dixon Street in Lincoln where they lived, originally selling motor bikes. This is possibly the longest running family owned motor trade business of today.
My father Alec Andrews joined the business just after the 2nd world war. We bought a larger work shop further down the road at 98 Dixon Street in 1960. In 1973 we opened a new show room which was purposely built in front of the old workshop at 98 Dixon Street stocking at the time between 40-50 cars.
I joined the company straight from school in 1976 whilst going to Lincoln College studying a City & Guilds Mechanical course.
We moved to our current site- a new 1-acre purpose-built site in 1994. It took over 3 years to get through planning and construction. We built a nine-car show room and two large canopies, so our customers can view cars whatever the weather.
In 2007 we bought the old BMW site next door to us and then built another showroom facing Dixon Street which allows us to stock another 10 cars in a showroom environment.
My son now being the 4th generation joined the company straight from school in 2017 whilst attending Lincoln College on an Account & Administration course.
I am still involved in the day to day running of the business. We employ over 20 staff and most have of the team have worked for us between 10 to 25 years.
